Who qualifies?

Eligibility depends on how an impairment affects daily life

You may qualify if you:

  • Live with a prolonged and significant impairment (physical, mental, neurological, sensory, etc.)

  • Experience limitations in daily activities such as walking, dressing, meal preparation, mental functions, communication, or other essential tasks

  • Receive ongoing therapy or require continuous medical support (insulin therapy, dialysis)

  • Have lived with these challenges for at least 12 months (current or expected)

If you qualified in past years but didn’t claim the credit, you may request reassessments for up to 10 years, which can result in a substantial lump-sum refund
